Closing Ceremony – RMMUN

The Metropolitan University College, a project of Roots International Schools, Pakistan’s leading higher education institute, hosted its 9th RMMUN (Roots Metropolitan Model United Nations) Conference ended on 19th November, 2017. The event saw 500+ attendees spread across 65 delegations from all over Pakistan, making RMMUN ’17 a huge success. The Closing Ceremony of RMMUN17 started with a thank you note by the President RMMUN’17 Arbaz Khan who congratulated expressed gratitude to all the delegates for participating in 9th edition of the prestigious four-day RMMUN 2K17 Conference. The Guest of Honors included Mr. Joao Sabido Costa, Charge d’ Affaires, Embassy of Portugal, H.E. Mr. Adel Elarbi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Embassy of the Republic of Tunisia and H.E Mr. Walid Ahmad Mahmoud Abu Ali, Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary, Embassy of the State of Palestine embellished the occasion with their presence. Mr. Joao Sabido Costa, Charge d’ Affaires, Embassy of Portugal said while addressing the audience that it is truly an honor and to witness these young delegates participating from all over Pakistan in such a prestigious event which is full of knowledge and polishes their speaking and debating skills. He stressed on how these conferences build patience and tolerance n young individuals representing different countries to hear the other person’s stance and develop integrity to a new level. The winners of Outstanding Diplomacy and Honourable Mention Awards in each committee were also announced on the occasion. The Conference closed with the announcement of the winning delegations as this year, a clean sweep by Lahore Grammar School (LGS). The RMMUN’ 17 conference not only focused on promoting debate and diplomacy, which is the vision of the United Nations, while resolving international issues but also highlighted the significance of inculcating ideals of tolerance, unity and empathy within the society. This message will be endorsed through various panel talks which will allow students to personally interact with individuals who symbolize these ideals. Moreover, with the increased focus on international participation and branching out to the remote areas of Pakistan this year, RMMUN’s aim was to bring people from different walks of life on the same platform to discuss global issues in harmony.
