The IB Primary Years Programme at Roots International School focuses on the idea that students’ learning is based on experiences and prior knowledge. Therefore, structured inquiry is the most common method used in the classroom. Teachers structure learning experiences that ignite curiosity and have students search for knowledge and understandings. Students learn from local, national, and international examples and experiences.
Faculty of Early Years at RIS-Wellington Campus arranged such an event at the school premises at the end of their theme “Who We Are”. Parent involvement was the main component of this event where mothers participated with enthusiasm and depicted cultures of different through food, clothes, handicrafts, language, music and places. This showed an excellent example of first hand knowledge of the world around them and different ways of living of the people from different provinces of Pakistan.
Our dynamic branch head Madam Naila said: IB-PYP addresses student’s academic, social and emotional well-being encourages students to develop independence and to take responsibility for their own learning. IB supports students’ efforts to gain understanding of the world and to function comfortably within it. It help students establish personal values as a foundation upon which international mindedness will develop and flourish.
