In an increasingly interconnected world, the ability to understand and communicate across languages and cultures has become essential. The Roots Foreign Languages Department (RFLD) encourages students to expand their horizons and embrace global diversity through linguistic and cultural learning.
Under the visionary leadership of Mr. Walid Mushtaq, CEO of Roots International Schools & Colleges, RFLD was established to foster global awareness and cross-cultural
understanding. Headed by Ms. Shahina Babar, the department currently offers German and Chinese language programmes, with plans to introduce more languages in the future. These courses are carefully designed to meet international standards and equip students with skills that enhance their global employability—especially for those aspiring to work in multinational environments or study abroad.
To celebrate the diversity of world cultures and languages by providing innovative, interdisciplinary learning experiences that empower students to become global citizens.

- MOU with German Universities: RISC, part of the network, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with German State Universities to facilitate students in receiving free education in various fields in Germany.
- German Language Club: A German Language Club is often available to give students more opportunities to practice the language and learn about the culture.
- Track Record: The program has a strong track record, with many students attaining high pass percentages in the Goethe-Institut examinations.
The German Language Department leverages its Goethe-Institut/PASCH partnership to facilitate students’ participation in international summer schools and youth camps held in Germany and Austria. These programs, often lasting two to three weeks, provide intensive German language immersion, combined with cultural excursions, hands-on activities, and the chance to interact with peers from across the globe in a safe and structured environment.
